Referral Information

You can self-refer into therapy, however, if you wish to get a Medicare rebate you will need a referral and Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from a GP or Psychiatrist. GP’s usually require that you book in with them for a “long consult” in order to assess your eligibility for this scheme.

A MHCP is completed by your referring physician and provides access to Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year.

Your referring GP will schedule a return visit to review your progress after the first six psychological therapy sessions. At this point, your GP will provide a re-referral for an additional four sessions, if required.

If you intend to apply for a Medicare Rebate, it is advised that you get a MHCP before making your first appointment with me, and request your GP address the plan to “David Morris”.

If you intend to use private health insurance for your treatment, you do not need a referral.
